How a family Christmas list works

From the first wish in November to the last present under the tree.

  1. Early November

    The kids make their lists

One list per child. Add toys from any store by pasting the link, or add wishes by hand, like a sleepover or skating lessons.

  2. Before Thanksgiving, November 26

Share one link with the family

Send it in the family group chat or by email. Grandparents, aunts and uncles open it in any browser.

  3. Black Friday to mid-December

    Everyone reserves quietly

Each gift can be reserved once, so whoever shops the Black Friday deals knows what's still open.

  4. Christmas morning

    Nothing twice, still a surprise

The kids never saw who picked what. They only see what's under the tree.

They know what you want. You won't know what you're getting.

Every list has two sides. Switch between them to see what Leo sees and what Grandma sees when she opens the same link.

Leo sees every wish exactly as he added it. Nothing on the list gives away what's already taken.

Stuck on ideas? Start from a Christmas list.

Lists by age for kids, plus picks for teens, grown-ups and a Secret Santa list under $25. Take one over and make it your own.

Made for grandparents, too.

They tap the link, see what's still open and reserve a gift with one tap. That's all.

  • No app to install. The list opens in the browser they already use.
  • No account or password. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to forget.
  • Any phone, tablet or computer. Big screen or small, it just works.

Doing Secret Santa this year?

At work, with friends or with the whole extended family: a short list per person means nobody ends up with another mug.

  1. Draw names the way you always do. A hat works fine.
  2. Everyone makes a short list within your budget.
  3. Share your link with the group, so your Secret Santa knows what you'd like.

How to write a Christmas list that works

Five things that make it easier for everyone who shops from it.

Add more wishes than you expect to get
Ten to fifteen wishes give everyone a choice, so each relative finds something in their budget.
Mix small and big gifts
A few things under $15 make it easy for cousins and neighbors to join in. Grandparents often go for the bigger items.
Link the exact product
Pick the size, color or edition on the store page before you add it, so nobody has to guess.
Include things you can't wrap
Lessons, tickets and days out are some of the best gifts. Add them by hand, with a price if you know it.
Share before Black Friday
Many families shop the deals on November 27 and November 30. A list shared the week before lets them use them.

Christmas list questions

Something else on your mind? Write to support@mywishlistonline.com and a real person answers.

Can I make a separate Christmas list for each of my kids?

Yes. Create one list per child and share each link with the family. Grandparents see exactly what each kid wants.

Do grandparents need the app to see the list?

No. The link opens in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and they can reserve a gift right there without an account.

How do we avoid buying the same gift twice?

Each gift can be reserved once. Everyone who opens the list sees what's already taken, except the person the list belongs to.

Can I add gifts from Target, Walmart or Etsy?

Yes. Paste the link of any product from any online store, or use the store browser in the app. You can also add wishes by hand.

When should I share our Christmas list?

Before Thanksgiving is a good time. Many families shop on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and a list shared early lets them use the deals.

Can we use it for a Secret Santa exchange?

Yes. Draw names the way you always do, then everyone makes a short list within your budget and shares the link. There is a ready-made Secret Santa list under $25 to start from.

Is it free?

Yes. There's no subscription and no paid tier. When someone buys a gift through a store link on a list, the store may pay us a small commission. The price stays the same for them.
